Acton-Boxborough Youth Baseball (ABYB) subscribes to the following philosophy when selecting individuals to serve as head coaches or assistant coaches for its spring and fall season teams (T-Ball, Minor C, Minor B, Minor A, Majors, and Babe Ruth) and its summer programs, including the Little League World Series (LLWS) team.
There are a variety of documents about coaching on this website. Please check the Education/Instruction page for on-line resources for coaching ideas and player development.
The ABYB Board established a Rules committee to review rules and guidelines that ABYB uses that modify Little League rules. All head coaches and assistant coaches should review their division rules annually or when updates are approved.
Attached is the most recent rules document, effective from the Spring 2018 season onwards.
Minor-A "call-ups" to Majors - rules clarification (*UPDATED May 12, 2017*)
9.4.2 Call-Ups • In certain circumstances, teams who foresee that they will not be able to field a team must contact the Majors Division Coordinator to arrange to “call up” players from the Minor A division to fill a roster. Note, however, that only players registered in ABYB are permitted to participate in any ABYB practices or games. • Minor A call up players cannot play the position of pitcher or catcher and must bat at the bottom of the order.
If you are a coach in Minor A, Majors or Babe Ruth, and have questions about umpires, please see our Umpires Corner page, or contact the Umpire Coordinator at for more information.
Every team in ABYB has their own team web page. If you click on the "Team" tab at the top of the site, you can get to your team page by selecting your League (Division) and Team name. This is a great way to communicate with your team, as well as keep track of practice and game schedules and the corresponding game results, standings, and statistics.
